Carnegie Transportation Information

Due to the Carnegie Elementary Renovation Project, we are adjusting our morning drop-off
procedures to improve student safety and traffic flow around the building.

Morning Drop-Off Procedures
Parents and guardians who drive their child to school will drop off students at the corner of Charles Street and Franklin Avenue.

As vehicles approach the drop-off area, families may use nearby streets, including California Avenue, Federal Avenue, or Knox Avenue, and then turn right onto Charles Street.

For student safety, students should exit vehicles from the right-hand side of the vehicle only. To help reduce congestion, we ask that students exit vehicles four vehicles at a time when directed by staff.

Doors will open at 8:25 and school starts at 8:35. School staff will be present for duty to assist the car ride drop off from 8:25-8:35.

After exiting the vehicle, students will proceed directly to the main entrance of the school.

An additional crossing guard and law enforcement/SPO support will be present to assist with traffic flow and student safety.

To support the drop-off process, no parking restrictions will be enforced on Charles Street within 30 feet of the intersection. This area must remain clear to help reduce congestion and allow students to exit safely.

After drop-off, drivers must turn left onto Franklin Avenue. Drivers may then turn left onto Station Street to access Lincoln Avenue. Please note that school buses will also use the Franklin Avenue to Station Street route when exiting campus.

Families should expect some delays during the first few days of the new procedure. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as everyone adjusts to the revised traffic pattern.

Afternoon Pickup Procedures

Afternoon pickup will remain largely unchanged.

Parents and guardians should park on nearby neighborhood streets and walk to the building to
meet their child.

Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 will be dismissed at 2:50 PM and may meet their
parents/guardians at the Charles Street door.
